Central Passage
Romans 10:17

We need change, but the change must come from the church.

Washington does not hold the key to the fall and the rise of the nation. Psalm 9:17 says, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."

Where change needs to come is back in the family of God, in the church (the born again).  Real change is needed in the family of God, among the people of God. There is a need for change in our lives.

We need a change that will last, change that will continue in us throughout our relationships with God.

Romans 10:17 tells us, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Ref vss Romans 10:14, 15)

If there is to be more revelation and understanding tom come, there has to be more of the Word of God preached to you or studied by you and entered into your ears and heart to produce in you that which God desires to be produced in your life.

It takes the Word of God, anointed by God, mixed with faith to be effective, to bring change.

The Word should produce more faith in your every time you hear it, and that faith should produce a change in you, making you more like Christ. This faith should bring a drastic change to your life.

Has the Word of God, you have heard throughtout your life, when weighed against the amount of change in your life created more change? Do the changes in your life excel the amount of Word you have heard?

Has the Word of God (when preached to you but not heard by you and not bringing change to your life) done you any good?

  • Going to church is not doing any favors for God, it is a favor to yourself.

II Peter 3:18 "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ..."

I Peter 2:2 "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby."

Do you sincerely desire to hear the Word of God?

There are many of us Christians who have been in church long enough to be spiritual giants.Yet after hearing the Word of God throughout years, some of us still need to be taught as children. Hebrew 5:12, "For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not strong meat."

We need to grow up, and to grow in Christ, we need to add to our faith. According to Peter, in order to grow, we must add to our faith virtue, to virtue, knowledge, to knowledge temperance (self-control), to temperance patience, to patience godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, to brotherly kindness charity (II Peter 1:5-11).

There are many preaching and singing in churches today lacking the anointing of God. The ability of man, the ability to sing, give great speeches, speak well, and say things well will not make things okay. They are empty of the anointing of God. "And my speech andd my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."- I Corinthians 2:4, 5

Man needs the anointing of God to preach, sing, and speak to do these things and bring change to lives.

The anointing of God on the Word connects with our spirit and the spirit of men and women sitting and listening. It makes us realize that we are broken and messed up inside and it brings conviction and causes us to examine ourselves.

We need the grace of God to make it.

One of the greatest gifts we will need in the end times is the gift of the spirit of discernment. (Ref vs Mark 13:22; Matthew 7:15)

Eloqent speech and man's wisdom are often viewed as the anointing of God. This is not so. "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness."- I Corinthians 3:19

Why are you still where you are after so long a time?

We should be farther along and more advanced in our spiritual walk with Christ than we are-- this needs to change.

Why are you not ministering to people?

Why are you not ministering around the altar?

It is our business to pray with and for others.

We need to be pressed by the Spirit to share our experiences with everyone around us. (Ref vss Acts 18:5; II Corinthians 4:7)

The miracle-working Spirit of God can sweep over us once again, but only if:

  • we will hunger for God, for a desire of God and an anointing of God
  • we are willing to pay the price for the anointing

Are you looking to have a change in your life today?

What happened to the desire you had for God? Where is your zeal for God?

We need to be broken again. Broken over our condition and the condition of our loved ones.

Has the Word of God become ineffective in your life? If the Word is not changing us, is there not a problem? Of course it is a problem. The problem is not with the Word, but with us. Jesus said, "My word hath no place in you." (John 8:37)

What are you doing to minister in the service of God?

Going to church is not ministering, it is for your benefit. Paying tithes is not doing your duty, it is commanded of us (Malachi 3:10).

Our foundation is laid upon the principles of biblical holiness. Even before the church experienced the outpouring of the Holy Ghost, it's roots were set in the holiness revival of the past century.  It was and is, a holiness church--holiness in fact and holiness in name. The passing of 18 years has not diminished our holiness position or convictions. The years have, instead, strengthened our knowledge that without holiness it is impossible to please God. We hereby remind ourselves that the Scriptures enjoin us at all times to examine our own hearts. Conditions of our day desperately require it. The basic doctrines of the church have remained constant since the inception of the church."

God's law is supreme, however we are to obey the laws of our country insofar as they are not in conflict with obedience to God (Acts 5:29). When it becomes necessary to disagree with practices and requirements of government, we should do so out of a concern for the promotion of righteousness and not out of delight in discord and controversy.
